Bridesmaid Dresses Proper Care & Storage

Dresses, especially those with special designs and fabric needs to be taken care of. After attending a wedding celebration, of course you don't want to ruin your pretty dress. We, girls, always wanted to preserve our dresses and make it look as new. RedBD wants to help you on how to take proper care for your bridesmaid dresses.

Here are some tips from RedBD on how to store your dress properly.

1.Clean up your closet and organize your dresses. See to it that dresses of the same type of fabric comes together so that that it would not mix up with the others with different fabric components. Why this is very important? It is because, some types of fabric may cause damage, like for example those colored ones that fades or has the ability to stain other fabrics with its color.

2.Beaded dresses are one of the most delicate and fragile to handle. From cleaning to ironing, it must be handled with so much care. In storing them, find a suitable hanger which will not ruin the beaded fabric. If you can imagine, some metal hangers could become rusty in the future. You might wanna choose the plastic one. Or the wooden hanger will do. Hang them on a clean closet.

3.According to some sources, it is not advisable to use plastic bags when putting a dress into a long term storage. Plastic covers contain chemicals which may mix up and cause damage to your dress. They can still be used in short term storage but never use them for a long time.

4.If you don't wanna mix it up with the others, find a box, fold it in and store in a cool dry place. In using a box, it is advisable for you to use and acid free tissue paper. Put it in between folds to avoid creasing of the fabric and touching other parts of the dress.

5.Another good idea is to store it inside a single canvas box. Canvas box is made of cloth, so, it won't harm your dress. No chemicals but be sure to still use the tissue on the folds and on the base of the box. This is to take extra care of your dress fabric and the beads/design.

6.Always make sure to change or clean storage boxes and closet.
